When someone asks me what I love most about what I do for a living, the answer is always the same – I love that it allows me to help people, to bring them joy, and to show them that they can do anything that they put their minds to. One of the most rewarding experiences as a coach is watching my students become more and more skilled as a clinic progresses. The confidence they gain by learning new things and overcoming obstacles is inspiring to not only myself, but also to all of the other women around them. And no matter whether I am teaching a mountain bike clinic or setting someone up with an endurance/fitness plan, there is one thing that I tell all of my students:

Can’t should no longer be a word in your vocabulary. There is no “can’t”, there is only “not yet.”

Decide what you want to do, figure out the steps you need to take to get there, set your milestone goals, … and know that I will be there by your side to help you crush every single one of them.

The amount of happiness that coaching, teaching, and empowering others brings to my life is truly immeasurable. Creating my company, Girls with Grit, was the first step in bringing this happiness into my family’s life, and with every clinic, ride and lesson that I create and lead, all I can hope is that I can bring as much joy to the lives of others as they bring to me every single day. And at the end of every clinic, when it’s time to head back to the truck for post-shred brews, there really is nothing like leading my crew of women as we shred as fast as we can, one after another down the trail, hooting and hollering every pedal stroke of the way. Because although we don’t have anything against glitter or tutus, our dress code is a little more trail soul: mud, smiles, lady-shred stoke, and grit… a whole lotta grit.
